Legislative Policy Aide

Office: Representative Martin Howrylak

Caucus: Republican

Description: This is a full-time position in the Lansing office of State Representative Howrylak. The Legislative Aide position with a focus on public policy requires an individual to perform research, legislative, and constituent duties. Responsibilities include research and tracking legislation, preparation of materials for legislative committees, session and district events while maintaining positive constituent relations.  The position also requires strong analytical and communication skills, office management expertise and the ability to work under deadlines. Occasional travel to the district is also required.

Salary Range: Negotiable

Minimum Qualifications: The applicant must be dependable, professional, resourceful, detail orientated, and possess strong administrative, organizational, and clerical skills.  A Bachelors degree is required and a Master's degree is beneficial.  The individual must have government experience with an expertise in state issues.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Experience writing press releases and newsletter articles is also preferred.  Applicant must be self-motivated and able to assume daily duties without direct supervision.
