Office/Department: State Representative Karen Whitsett

General Description: IMMEDIATE OPENING - The office of Representative Karen Whitsett of the 9th District is currently looking to fill a paid internship position in her Lansing office.  A Paid Intern would have the opportunity to assist the Member and her staff in general office operations including constituent relations, communications and monitoring legislation. The selected candidate will gain valuable hands-on office and legislative experience in a fast-paced environment. 

Pay Range: $10.00 per hour
College credit may also be possible. (See your school’s Internship Coordinator or Academic Advisor.)

Start Date: ASAP

Work Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays 9AM to 5PM (preferred availability), some additional hours may also be available.  Part-time up to 20 hours per week (40 per pay period.)  Specific schedule will be determined on an individual basis.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a student, veteran, or participant in job entry program. Strong applicants will have a positive attitude, previous office experience including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, telephone skills, and writing skills.  Knowledge of the Legislature is desired but not required.  Applicants should have a writing sample and references available upon request.
