Legislative Intern

Office: Representative Sowerby

Caucus: Democrat

Description: The office of Representative Bill Sowerby of the 31st District is currently looking to fill an internship position beginning in January of 2017. An intern would be expected to provide assistance to Representative-Elect Sowerby and members of his staff ranging in the areas of legislation, communications, constituent affairs, general office management and miscellaneous tasks. Some responsibilities will include answering phones, monitoring legislation, research and written correspondence to groups and individuals within the District. Students will gain valuable hands-on office experience in a fast-paced environment. Hours are negotiable. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Salary Range: This is an unpaid position, but college credit is possible. See your school’s Internship Coordinator or Academic Advisor.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a student, veteran, or participant in job entry program. Strong verbal and written skills, computer skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications are required. Previous office experience and knowledge of the Legislature and legislative process are a plus but are not required.
