Office: Rep. Neeley
Description: The office of Representative Sheldon Neeley of the 34th District is currently looking to fill internship positions. Interns will have the opportunity to assist the Member and their staff with tasks involving policy, communications and press relations, constituent affairs, general office management, and other miscellaneous tasks that are essential to running an office in a fast-paced environment. Some responsibilities will include answering phones, monitoring legislation, research, and written correspondence to groups and individuals within the district. Legislative Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience. Additionally, he or she will have opportunities to network and attend committee hearings, House sessions, as well as various state and local government. Selected candidates will gain valuable hands-on office and legislative experience in a fast-paced environment. Hours and length of internship are negotiable.
Salary Range: This is an unpaid position, however a Paid Internship could be offered to an experienced intern after serving at least one semester with this office. College credit is also possible. (See your school’s Internship Coordinator or Academic Advisor.)
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a student, veteran, or participant in job entry program. Strong applicants will have a positive attitude, previous office experience including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, telephone skills, writing skills, as well as the ability to work efficiently and independently. Knowledge of the Legislature is desired but not required. Applicants should have a writing sample and references available upon request.
