Description: State Representative Doug Geiss is seeking a responsible and professional individual to serve as an intern in his Lansing office. Prospective interns should exhibit an interest in government as well as the ability to work independently. An intern would be expected to provide assistance to Representative Geiss and his staff in the areas of legislation, communications, constituent services, general office management and other miscellaneous tasks as necessary. Hours are negotiable. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply and will gain valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: This is an unpaid position, but college credit is possible. (See your school’s Internship Coordinator)

Minimum Qualifications: Excellent written and interpersonal skills, dependability, attention to detail and strong organizational abilities are expected. Competency with Microsoft Office applications is required. The candidate must possess the ability to interact professionally with a broad range of individuals from diverse backgrounds, the capability to multitask and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, professional environment. Previous office experience and knowledge of the Legislature and the legislative process is a plus but not required.
