Research Internship

Office / Department: Democratic Central Office

General Description: The House Democratic Central office is currently looking to fill internship positions in the Lansing office.  These interns will have the opportunity to assist the research staff in completing several projects and tasks including data entry, research, writing reports based on recent votes, and some public record searches.  Additional projects may be assigned throughout the internship.  The selected candidate will gain valuable hands-on legislative experience in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range: This is an unpaid position, but college credit is possible. (See your school’s Internship Coordinator or Academic Advisor.)

Start Date: Within two weeks of hire, preferred.

Work Schedule: 15-20 hours per week.  Schedule is negotiable with at least one full day per work week.  Some take-home work will also be assigned.

Minimum QualificationsApplicants must be a student, veteran, or participant in job entry program.  Strong applicants will have a positive attitude, previous office experience including solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, and highly effective writing skills.  The ideal candidate will also be meticulous with the ability to work independently.  Knowledge of the Legislature is desired but not required.  Applicants should have a writing sample and references available upon request.
