Description: The Michigan House Democratic Caucus is seeking a full-time Graphic Designer to contribute to the communications efforts of the Caucus and its members. This position will be responsible for providing graphic design for print and digital content and materials.

The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to understand typography and layout as well as industry standard software. The incumbent is responsible for the entire design process from concept to production, including working closely with member offices and in-house print vendors. She or he will be committed to producing the best work possible while meeting deadlines.

 

Job Responsibilities

The Graphic Designer, who is based in Lansing and reports to the Communications Director, is responsible for the following:

Producing attractive and effective designs that achieve the required communication goal; Coordinating design projects and orders placed with in-house print vendors; Offering input to creative projects, sharing ideas and able to give and receive critique; Effectively balance multiple projects, deadlines and deliverables in a fast-paced environment; Maintaining an ongoing awareness of design trends, best practices and commitment to your own personal growth and development.

Salary Range: Compensation depends on experience and is competitive.

Minimum Qualifications: We are looking for a creative graphic designer with strong communication and decision-making skills. Someone who will play a role in creative development, design and production; someone who will work collaboratively and who excels working in a fast-paced environment.

You should have:

An updated portfolio demonstrating natural artistic ability with creative concept; Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite; Understanding of print and production processes and the ability to collaborate with clients and vendors; Ability to work individually and collaboratively and meet client requests; A positive attitude; Ability to quickly get up to speed on legislative issues and processes; Ability to meet deadlines consistently; An ongoing interest in continued learning and adaptation based on best practices.
